TOY2R 15th Anniversary show
September 21st, 2009
A little while back I was asked to join the TOY2R QEE world tour as a special guest artist to celebrate their 15 year anniversary! It’s pretty wild to think there’s a vinyl toy company that’s already hitting the big 15, I guess that reinforces that TOY2R and the vinyl world are here to stay.
This was the first Qee I’ve ever done actually, and it was pretty fun to finally mess around with, it’s got more articulation than I expected. It’s very well thought out so the peices have motion without rubbing against each other and removing your paint. It goes together solidly, but comes apart easily enough without needing to heat the vinyl or anything, goes back together easily as well. Also, it has some sort of matte paint finish that makes acrylic stick to it very easily as well. Basically, it’s a very solid and pleasant DIY platform that will give you very little headaches when working with it.
Now that the endorsement’s over, here’s some info on the show:

This will probably be the biggest thing in Nebraska. Ever.
And here’s my piece for the show:
“Lesser Reanimated Rogue”
Custom Toyr QEE

I decided to stay faithful to the basic design on this one, and just add some select elements to bring out the initial shape of the platform. The concept for this figure is that he is a corpse, reanimated by the magic spell on his back, the spell only lasts for as long as the candle burns on his head. When the candle goes out, he goes back to his eternal slumber. Lesser reanimated rogues, make great assassins that self destruct.
And yes, I snuck a little “Army of Darkness/Day the earth stood still” Nod in there as well!

Stay classy interwebs!
